Ruby Virginia Pennington, 95, of Albemarle, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Stanly Manor in Albemarle.
Ms. Pennington was born June 18, 1922 in Stanly County to the late Reuben Henry Carpenter and the late Ada Ann Bryant Carpenter. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by husband, Martin Luther Pennington, the love of her life and best friend of 72 years; brothers, Jasper, James, and George Carpenter; and sisters, Rosa Almond, Plina Howard, Mary Neil Deese.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm to 2:45 pm, Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The celebration of life service will follow at 3 pm in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by Pastor Tab Whitley. She will be laid to rest at Stanly Gardens of Memory, 2001 East Main Street, Albemarle.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Barbara (Harold) Crisco, Vicky (Dwight) Eudy and only grandchild, Chad Everett Eudy, all of Albemarle.
A person of deep faith, the ministry of her life's witness was full of gracious selfless love. She was clothed in love, kindness, grace and dignity, full of joy and compassion forgiven of all. She loved her church family. She was a radiant spirit who loved her family and friends deeply. Her greatest love, pride and joy of her life was spending precious time with her devoted family. She was a dedicated and active member of Lakeview Baptist Church.
Ruby had many talents, from her beautiful handwriting to playing the piano. Ruby learned to play piano early in life by ear at 8 years of age, when her mother bought her the piano she has today. She won several contest in music and appeared on TV in Florence, South Carolina. Ruby played for many functions through the years. Ruby received an offer to tour with the Tommy Vale Show in the 1960's. She also played music for Light and Lively Dance and Woodman of the World. Their band was called The Rubies.
Her love for God, her Christian faith and family were the cornerstones of her life. Ruby enjoyed helping others and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and always put her family first.
The family would like to thank Pam for the tender loving care and support. They would also like to thank Stanly Manor's staff and the care from the ladies who took such good care of Ruby.
As her name implies, Ruby was truly a gem and will be missed by all.
