Ruby Efird

Ruby Lee Ballard Efird, 89 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle.

Ruby was born September 9, 1925 in Stanly County to the late Lee Ballard and the late Grace Shankle Ballard. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Poplin; second husband, Leon Brooks Efird; and a brother, George Ballard.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2015, in the Efird Parlor at St. Martin's Lutheran Church, 16592 St. Martin Rd., Albemarle. The funeral service will be at the church on Monday, January 5, at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Donald M. Phillips. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Harry (Debbie) Poplin of Matthews; three daughters, Gail P. (Gerald) Efird and Kim E. (Durayne) Whitley, both of Albemarle, and Zoe E. (Manuel) Flores, of Ladson SC; brother, Leland (Linda) Ballard of Mint Hill; grandchildren, Kelly Barbee, Bill Poplin, Anna Flores and Jason Whitley; great grandchildren, Ian and Elliot Simmons and Harper Whitley; and sister-in-law, Alma Ballard of Norwood.
