Ronald Harkey

Ronald Andrew Harkey, 76 years of age, of Midland, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at CMC - NorthEast in Concord.

"Ron" was born November 18, 1938 in Cabarrus County to the late Fisher Harkey and the late Lessie Mae Hartsell Harkey. He was also preceded in death by five siblings.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service, officiated by Rev.Tom Gibbs and Rev. Ronald Helms, will be at 3:00 pm, Sunday, March 29, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Midland, 4720 Garmon Mill Rd. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times the family will receive friends at the home of daughter Sharon Hunsucker, 13721 Alpine Ave in Midland.

Ron was the owner/operator of Harkey's Mower and Saw Service in Midland for over 25 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Midland and Masonic Lodge #618 in Midland. He served in the US Army during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Presley Harkey of Midland; daughters, Sherry (Stan) Drye of Locust, Sharon (Billy) Hunsucker of Midland, and Susan (Jon) Oliverio of Mint Hill; grandson, Ronnie (Wendy) Drye of Midland; granddaughters, Tiffany Ann Hunsucker of Midland, and Anna-Marie and Lily (Grace) Oliverio of Mint Hill; sisters, Lucille Furr of Midland, and Margaret Simmons of Salisbury; and brother, Walker Harkey of Midland.
