Roger Lloyd Dean

Roger Lloyd Dean, 85, left to be with our Lord on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord.

The game animals and fish are a little safer today.

Roger was born January 10, 1941 in North Carolina to the late Iley "Buck" Leamond Dean and the late Emily Pearl Lloyd. He was also preceded in death by brother Iley Leamond Dean Jr.

An avid outdoorsman, Roger's love of hunting and fishing was well known by all that knew him. Jeaneane and friends had the opportunity to enjoy this passion with him. From North Carolina to Montana, from Australia to Zimbabwe, he followed his passion all over the world.

Roger met his wife, Jeaneane Elliott Dean, in Durham, North Carolina in 1964. Married on June 12, 1965 they lived in several cities in Georgia and Florida before settling in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1970. After 16 years, they moved to Concord, North Carolina to make their home. A resident for almost 40 years, he enjoyed life of a "small" town.

Soon after graduating from Campbell College in 1964, he enlisted in the Army National Guard serving in both North Carolina and Georgia, After six years, he was honorably discharged with the rank of Lieutenant. Roger found enjoyment working for Bristol Myers Squibb for over thirty years until he retired in 2001. His ability to gab with the doctors and their office personnel made his appearance always welcomed.

Life through Christ was one of his attributes. He did many things to serve and support the Parkwood Baptist Church in Concord through offering his time, donations and helping his fellow member when they were in need. The Christmas dinners at his home for members of the Elderly group were always appreciated and enjoyed.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Monday, May 11, 2026 at Parkwood Baptist Church of Concord located at 1069 Central Dr. NW, Concord, NC 28027.

He leaves behind his wife of 60 years Jeaneane Elliott Dean, his brother Richard Merritt Dean of Kinston, North Carolina, sons Steven Craig Dean (Cameron Venable) of Old Hickory, TN and Roger Keith Dean (Erin Murphy), of Marshville, NC.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be given to Parkwood Baptist Church in Roger's Memory.
