Rodney Davis Tucker, born December 13, 1940, to the late Gurley and Lois Tucker, passed away October 8, 2026 surrounded by family and friends leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and deep love for his family.
Rodney proudly served in the United States Army for three years, carrying with him a lifelong sense of duty and patriotism. Throughout his life, he worked tirelessly and with purpose. In his younger years, he owned and operated a turkey farm, a testament to his determination and work ethic. He later became a licensed real estate agent, and even after retirement, he continued to enjoy working outdoors, especially surveying property.
Rodney found joy in the outdoors, and one of his favorite hobbies was panning for gold, a pastime he approached with patience and enthusiasm. He loved to travel, and one of his most cherished adventures was a recent trip out West—a journey he spoke of often and fondly.
His faith was the foundation of his life. Rodney dearly loved his weekly Bible study group, where fellowship and scripture brought him strength. He was known for testifying about Jesus Christ to everyone he met, sharing prayer cards and offering encouragement with a sincerity that touched countless lives.
Rodney was a loving father whose greatest happiness came from time spent with his family. He is survived by his brother Dale (Terry) of Charlotte; his children Rodney Jr. (Mary) of Locust, Rowdy of Locust, Rusty (Brandi) of Locust, and Rendee (Heath) of Stanfield. He was blessed with grandchildren Alisha (Cody) Hunt of Norwood, Jeremy (Allison) Hunt of Albemarle, Matt (Sydney) Tucker of Pageland, SC and Justin Tucker of Mt, Pleasant. Also great‑grandchildren Isabella & Mason Rutherford of Norwood and Maddix & Maylynn Hunt of Albemarle, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
Rodney’s warmth, his stories, his laughter, and his unwavering faith will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 13, from 6:00–8:00 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home, located at 13575 Broadway Avenue, Midland, NC. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 14, at 11:00 AM at Dulin’s Grove Church, located at 11200 Arlington Church Road, Charlotte, NC.
