April 10, 1945 — August 17, 2023

Mount Gilead

Robert (Bob) James Frohreich of Mt. Gilead North Carolina passed away Thursday August 17, 2023.

Born April 10, 1945, in Staten Island, New York, Bob was an only child who grew up in Three Bridges, New Jersey with his parents August (Gus) and Marjory Frohreich.

Bob held an MS in Physics from Stephens Institute and worked as a software engineer until his retirement. Bob was enthusiastic about making computers and technology accessible to people with disabilities and created a free virtual keyboard that allowed so many to access the world through technology. He connected with and made friends with people all around the world by giving the keyboard he created away. He loved 50’s and 60’s rock n ’roll music and co-published Rockin' Eddy Oldies Radio Show. In keeping with his passion to help others connect to technology, Bob dedicated a lot of his time in recent years helping his friends and neighbors with technology supports. A visit to his house demonstrates an avid love for photography that he shared with his wife Bridget. The walls of Bob’s home are lined with beautiful nature photography the pair took. Bob cherished his wife Bridget and was her constant companion and co-adventurer for thirty-eight wonderful years of marriage.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Gus and Marjory as well as his beloved Uncle Gene. Along with his wife Bridget, Bob is survived by his stepchildren, Charles Loar (Rosie) and Lisa Loar (Sherrie).
