Robert Lee Drake, 83, of Monroe, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2026 at his home.
Robert was born July 11, 1942 in North Carolina to the late Baxter Cullwell Drake and the late Ruth Mildred Drake. He was also preceded in death by brother, Joe Neal Drake and two sister in laws, Millie Ann Drake and Bonnie Drake.
Robert was born into a share cropping family, where he worked in the fields with his Dad and Mom, along with his brothers and sisters, this is where he learned how to work every day. He later became a carpenter, learning how to build cabinets and anything else anybody needed built. Over the years, he helped his family build their homes right along beside them. That is what he enjoyed doing. He loved spending time with his kids and watching them raise their kids, always willing to give his advice and help in any way he could. He loved watching his grandkids and great grandkids grow up, enjoying every visit and time spent with them.
He loved his family deeply and taught us the importance of faith, honesty, and hard work. The lessons he taught through his actions will continue to guide us for years to come.
Though he will be deeply missed, we find comfort, knowing he is now at peace, sleeping, waiting on that great resurrection day.
The family will receive friends from 4pm - 5pm on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. The funeral service will be held at 5pm at Hope Second Advent Christian Church, located at 6804 Morgan Mill Rd, Monroe, NC 28110 and officiated by Pastor Brent Carpenter.
