Concord

Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert (Bob) Eugene Clontz, Sr. 77, of Concord, passed away
Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.

Robert was born August 24, 1944, in North Carolina to the late Claude Carlyle Clontz
and the late Dorothy Lanell Clontz. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54
years, Janice. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Bill and David, sisters, Irene
Hill and Helen Sutphin.

Survivors include daughter, Wanda Clontz of Concord, NC; son, Robert (Amy) Clontz, Jr
of Concord, NC; grandchildren, Amelia (Matthew) Fancher, Caitlyn Clontz, Noelany
Clontz and Brendan Clontz; and sister, Joyce (James) Clements.

Bob enlisted and proudly served 24 years in the United States Navy before retiring in
1985 at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3. Following his service and moving to
Concord, he worked 12 years at Ameristeel as Safety and Training Manager.
Subsequently, he served 12 years for Concrete Supply as the Director of Safety and
Training.

However, even more close to his heart was his service to the Lord Jesus Christ. He
served as a teacher, deacon, and pastor in churches at various times during his military
service. At the time of his homegoing, he was teaching a single adult Sunday School
class (The Lighthouse Class) at Hickory Grove Baptist Church. He was also highly
active in the HGBC Food Pantry Ministry. When his grandchildren were younger, he
also served in the Youth Recreation Ministry as a softball coach along with his son.
During that time, he also was a part of the AWANA program.

The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, with the funeral
service following at 2:00 pm at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte. Service to be
officiated by Dr John Harrill. Service will also be livestreamed here . Burial will follow
at the Gethsemane Cemetery and Memorial Gardens at 1504 W. Sugar Creek Road,
Charlotte.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hickory Grove Baptist Church with a
memo to reference the Food Pantry Ministry or online here and select the food pantry in the drop down menu.
