Richard John Strampp

Richard John Strampp, 92, of Harrisburg, passed away Friday, January 12, 2024, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, North Carolina.

Richard was born September 22, 1931, in Chicago, IL, to the late Robert and Mayme Strampp.  He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Katherine Strampp; brother Robert Strampp; and sister, Penelope Knaack. 

Richard was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean War. After 4 years of service, he moved to Florida and became a construction tradesman in Jacksonville, FL. Later, he moved to Bristol, Wisconsin with his family and began a 26 year career at American Motors/Chrysler Corporation before retiring in 1987. He returned to Port St, Lucie, Florida and enjoyed retired life there until 2011, when he moved to Harrisburg, North Carolina after the death of his wife, Katherine. Richard enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, tinkering with cars and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. 

Richard will be laid to rest with military honors at Salisbury National Cemetery at a later date.  

Survivors include his son, Richard A. Strampp of Jupiter, FL; son, Michael (Christine) Strampp of Chilhowie, VA; and daughter, Susan (Todd) Foulks of Harrisburg, NC. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alexander, Tyler and Brittany Strampp and Matthew and Bradley Foulks. He is also survived by his brother, George Strampp.
