Richard Slick

Richard Slick, 88 years of age, of Mount Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016 in Albemarle due to complications following surgery.

Richard was born March 25, 1928 in Forest City, PA to the late Victor Peter Slick and Dora Frances Slick. He was also preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ellen Slick in 2006.

Richard was a WWII Navy Veteran and received his engineering degree in Washington, DC on the GI bill. He had a very successful engineering career and retired from IBM, Charlotte in 1992. He then devoted time to "Meals on Wheels", Sr. Center Albemarle, AARP Tax Preparer, and generously supported numerous charities.

He shared the final years of his life with dear friend Barbara Busbin. Richard lived a simple life managing his farm, his family, and many friends. Quite loud, but very sweet, he was a man that spread kindness and smiles like wildfire.


The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Monday, December 12, 2016 at Harrtsell Funeral Home of Albermarle. A funeral mass will be on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Annunciation Catholic Church, 416 N. 2nd Street, in Albemarle officiated by Father Peter L. Fitzgibbons.


Survivors include sons, Robert Wayne Slick of Springwater, NY and Richard V. Slick of Locust; daughters, Billie June Budke of Hillsboro, OR and Barbara Susan Dombroski of Ocean Ridge, FL; and sister, Dolores Wyskowski of Vestal, NY; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
