Richard Lumas Hinson Jr., 85 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
Richard was born January 19, 1932 in Stanly County to the late Richard Lumas Hinson Sr. and the late Cora Magdalene Hinson. He was also preceded in death by daughter, Janet H. Godwin; and sister Jane H. Stamper.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm, Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Aquadale Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm in the church sanctuary and will be officiated by Rev. Jimmie Hudson. Burial will follow at the Aquadale Baptist Church Cemetery at 32871 Church Rd, Norwood. At other times the family will receive friends at the home.
Survivors include wife, Elsie Capel Hinson; son, Roger Dean (Debbie) Hinson of Badin; daughter, Sherri H. Blackmon of Albemarle; brother, Marvin (Barbara) Hinson of New London; six grandchildren, Tonya Godwin, Brandon(Amanda) Godwin, Brian (Nikki) Hinson, Lauren (Nick) Huneycutt, Courtney ( Derrick) Simpson, and Heath (Brittany) Blackmon; eight great-grandchildren, Cody and Payton Whitley, Jarrett, Russell and Cooper Hinson, Kayleigh and Carson Simpson, and Brett Godwin; and special niece, Sharon Rumble.
Richard was retired from Collins & Aikman. He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a deacon of the Aquadale Baptist Church.
