Richard Gunter, Jr.

Richard Allen Gunter, Jr., 54, of Stanfield, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at his home.

Richard was born December 14, 1967 in Kansas to Lettie Marie Perkins and the late Richard Allen Gunter, Sr.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm, Sunday, April 10, 2022 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The graveside service will be on Monday April 11, at 2 pm, located at New Gilead Reformed Church Cemetery, 2400 Old Salisbury Road in Concord, officiated by Pastor Jerry Ingle.

Richard was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He served in the United States Navy during the Gulf War aboard a destroyer.  Richard enjoyed football, fishing, shooting guns, and caring for his German shepherds.  He was a family man who loved spending time with his wife whom he especially enjoyed traveling to the mountains with.

Survivors include wife, Ronda Gunter of Stanfield; daughter, Julie (Matt) Hudson; son, Chase (Chasiti Connor) Lewis; daughter, Rachel Gunter and Payton (Drew Reary) Gunter; grandchildren, Chyna Hudson, Milah, Mia and Emerson Gunter; sisters, Cindy Dobson and Diane Younes; and brother, Phillip Gunter.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the VA Hospital in Salisbury and to Dr. Charles Rhodes at Atrium Health Cabarrus.
