Regina Furr Benfield

Regina Furr Benfield, 65, of Concord, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord.

Mrs. Benfield was born May 9, 1960 in Concord, North Carolina to the late J.W. Furr and the late Brenda Blackwelder Furr. She was also preceded in death by her son, Paul Lewis Sharp and her daughter, Onnie Nicole Benfield.

Regina was a customer service rep in the corrugated container industry for most of her career. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and loved teaching her children how to cook, and passing down family recipes. She was a very spiritual woman and loved attending church. She sang in church with her mother and sisters from the age of 9.

Regina was a warm, caring mother and grandmother, and her children and grandbabies were the lights of her life. She doted on her family and husband, and she was the glue that held them all together. She had a quick wit, infectious smile, genuine personality and a comforting quality to her that can never be replaced. She was a strong, determined woman who overcame many hardships in her life, thus earning her the nickname “Oak Tree.”

A celebration of life service is being held at Harmony Baptist Church in Harrisburg, NC on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026 at 2pm.

Survivors include husband, Gene Benfield of Concord, NC, son, Tom and wife Melissa Sharp, daughter, Brenda Faye Sharp, and three sisters, Teresa Ramirez, Annette Strickland, and Colleen Furr. Also surviving are; three nieces, one nephew, eleven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Harmony Baptist Church.
