Rebecca Hill

Rebecca Dean Edwards Hill, 90, of Oakboro, passed away Friday, December 9, 2022, at Bethany Woods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Albemarle.

Rebecca was born April 6, 1932, in Union County, North Carolina to the late Heyward Edwards and the late Viola Edwards, both of Union County.
She was also preceded in death by husband, Robert L. Hill Jr.; grandson, Richard Kent Huneycutt, Jr.; son-in-laws, Mike Warwick and Tony Bell; sister, Ruth Little; and brother, Edsel Edwards.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, Friday, December 16, 2022, at Rocky Mount Baptist Church: 4167 Rocky Mount Church Road, Polkton NC. The funeral service will follow the visitation, officiated by Dr. Rev. Shad Hicks. Burial will then follow in the church cemetery.

Rebecca was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed crochet, embroidery, knitting, and creating floral arrangements. Some of Rebecca’s favorite pastimes were spent working in her greenhouse, tending to her garden, and enjoying the plants and trees in her yard. Rebecca loved her pets, but her pride and joy was her cat “Baby”. She was involved in Woodmen of the World and politics. Rebecca worked as a housewife, taking care of her children and providing the support needed as the wife of a farmer. Over the years, she also worked outside of the home in textiles and retail positions.

Survivors include daughters: Lois Bele of Kannapolis, NC, Ellen (Mark) McCarter of Oakboro, NC, Loraine (Keith) Huneycutt of Albemarle, NC, Becky Warwick of Ansonville, NC; son, Edward (Pat) Hill of Oakboro, NC; daughter, Edith (Chris) Todd of Oakboro; grandsons: Chris English, Jason Huneycutt, Daniel Huneycutt; and Ryan Howe; granddaughters: Tammy Stickney, Karen Whitley, Pam Gathings, Becky Dillard, Kelly Lorch, Natalie Helms, Amanda Helms, Anna Kennerly; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Whitley of Stanfield (Tony) and many nieces and nephews.
