Ralph Martin Theroux, age 79, of Harrisburg, North Carolina, peacefully passed away on June 5, 2025, at home after a long farewell from Alzheimer's disease.
Born on December 29, 1945, in Cohoes, New York, Ralph was the son of Ethel La Plante Theroux and Omer Francis Theroux. In 1955, his family relocated to San Diego, California, where Ralph spent much of his youth.
Following his graduation from Grossmont High School in La Mesa, California, Ralph proudly served in the United States Air Force as a jet engine mechanic, including service in Vietnam. Upon his honorable discharge, he continued his career at Pacific Southwest Airlines and later retired from U.S. Airways. Ralph valued education and, through the G.I. Bill, earned an Associate's degree in Arts and Science from Grossmont College.
Ralph was known for his remarkable creativity and talent, particularly in art, woodworking, and stained glass. He designed and built beautiful gazebos and koi fish ponds at his homes in both California and North Carolina, sharing his passion for nature and aesthetics with those around him. His involvement with the Piedmont Koi and Water garden Society showcases his dedication to his hobbies and his love for the community.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marcia, with whom he shared 54 wonderful years of marriage, along with his sister, Marie Evans, and many cherished nieces and nephews. Ralph was preceded in death by his brothers William, David, Omer, and Carl.
Ralph Martin Theroux will be remembered for his loving spirit, artistic talents, and the joy he brought to his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of creativity and compassion that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
