Phyllis Furr

Phyllis “Jean” Cochrane Furr, 89, of Concord, passed away on Monday, October 22, 2012 at her home. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 from 2 until 4PM. Funeral services will follow at 4 PM in the chapel with Rev. Merrill Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Jean was born on February 2, 1923 in Cabarrus County to the late Lacy Lee and Lula Grace Williams Cochrane. She was also preceded in death by her husband John Willie “Bill” Furr in 2000 and sister Ruth Gray. Jean was a teacher in The Cabarrus County School System, and a member of Ann Street United Methodist Church. She is survived by: daughter, Marilyn Furr Wise and husband Don of Chapin, SC; sons, John Paul Furr and wife Susan of Concord, David Furr and wife Janet of Fuquay-Varina, NC; brother, Ray Cochrane and wife Mary of Concord; sister, Marie Kellough of Greenville, SC; brother-in-law Paul M. Furr of Concord; grandchildren, Sara vanDriel and husband Marinus, Andy Wise, Zachary and Meghan Furr, Jonathan and Rebekah Furr; great-granddaughter, Evy vanDriel.
