Peggy Harkey Branch

Peggy Winnefred Harkey Branch, 86, of Oakboro, passed away Friday, October 17, 2025, at Forrest Oakes Healthcare Center in Albemarle.

Peggy was born December 1, 1938, in Albemarle North Carolina to the late Floyd Adam Harkey and the late Helen Josephine Kluttz Harkey. Peggy had two younger siblings, Tommy Wayne Harkey and Denna Jo Tucker.

Peggy was a graduate of Millingport High School, class of 1956.

Peggy was married to Larry Gene Branch of the Ridgecrest community for 66 years until his passing in 2022. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Denna ‘Jo’ Tucker.

Survivors include adopted son, Troy Bowers Branch of Salisbury, NC; grandson, Tyler Christian Branch of Bossier City, LA; grandson, Brice Clifford Branch of Springfield, Ohio and brother, Tommy Wayne Harkey of New London, NC.

Peggy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Her family and friends brought her great joy. She was a dedicated Mary Kay Consultant for 51 years and devoted housewife. She was an ardent member of Canton Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and played piano and organ and was a member of the Morning Glories women’s group whom she adored.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday October 29, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Canton Baptist Church in Albemarle officiated by Pastor Curtis Williams with special guest, Pastor Mark Mabry.
