Patricia Kording
December 28, 1941 — November 25, 2016
In 1964 Gerrie married Alvin Scott from Mount Airy. They moved to several areas with the Army. Once returning to Mount Airy, she began working for Duke Power which eventually brought her to Charlotte. She took pride in her work and found fulfillment working in operations for the call center. Many wonderful friends were made during her years of service with Duke Power and she shared such great memories with them. Gerrie and Alvin were loving and proud parents of their daughter, Christie Rackowitz. Although Gerrie and Alvin divorced in 1984, the Scott Family remained very dear to Gerrie and have always surrounded her with love.
In 1995 Gerrie married Gary Kording and became stepmom to Gary Kording Jr. , Kathy Sirvio and Virginia Husic. Many happy memories were shared as a great happy family together. Gerrie and Gary enjoyed their neighborhood and the beautiful friends that spent so many fun afternoons and evening poolside. Many fun destinations were in their travels. Often evenings were spent on the front porch in the swing enjoying company of friends.
She is survived by her husband Gary Kording, her loving daughter, Christie Rackowitz and her beloved grandchildren Noah, Logan and Luke. Also survived by her sister Linda Hiatt and husband Mike of Mt. Airy and their son Brandon Hiatt and wife Jennifer; her brother Buddy; Andy and wife Marsha and Lisa Monday. Also survived by loving nieces and nephews: Morgan, Colin, McKinnon, Amy, Michael, Nick and Brittany.
She is predeceased by her brother, Clyde Andrew ‘CA’ Monday, and sister in law Marian Monday.
Gigi was loved by everyone she met and was able to shine her light on so many people. She was so proud of the children in her life and was fueled by the love of those around her. If you had a conversation with her, it would quickly flow to her adventures with her grandchildren. Her smile was infectious and her hugs filled with love no matter who you were. She was the first to make sure everyone was taken care of with a selfless ease of giving. She was full of grace and beauty even when her body was causing pain and suffering. So many of us will miss that spunk that she carried with her always.
