Nelson Hatley

Nelson Gene Hatley, 51 years of age, of Locust, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Carolinas Medical Center-Main in Charlotte. Nelson was born July 8, 1962 in Stanly County to Roscoe Nelson Hatley and Sceria Novaleen Huneycutt Hatley of Oakboro. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Sunday, October 20, 2013, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Scott Jenkins and Dr. Wayne Bennett, will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 21, 2013 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Oakboro. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will be gathering at the home of his parents, Roscoe and Novaleen Hatley. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Sharon Bittner Hatley of Locust; sons, Jeffrey Gardiner and wife, Erin of Albemarle and Colin Hatley of Locust; daughter, Christina Olsen and husband, Brad of Midland; sister, Sceria Jenkins and husband, Scott of Stanley; grandson, Jeffrey Gardiner, Jr. and granddaughter, Amiaya Deese.
