Nancy Irene Hill

Nancy Irene Hill, 97, of Concord, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025 surrounded by her family. Born October 9, 1927, in Stanfield, NC, Irene lived a long and meaningful life, grounded in love, faith, and family.

Irene was the beloved wife of the late Lester Reid Hill and a devoted mother to Kay Kanouff (Roger), Alvis Hill (Janet), and Coot Morris (Cliff). Irene was a cherished grandmother to Robin Stokes, Noah Hill, Ange Hill Furr, Malia Davis, and Brea Fisher, and a proud great-grandmother to eleven, with the added blessing of four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Christina, great-great-granddaughter Mariah and son-in-law Roger.

A longtime and faithful member of West Concord Baptist Church, Irene’s dedication and unwavering faith touched countless lives. She was rarely seen without a butterfly pin proudly displayed on her shoulder-a reminder that happiness, like a butterfly will elude you the more you chase it, but if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder. In her stillness, her faith, and her steadfast love, happiness always seemed to settle gently around her-and those fortunate enough to be near her felt it, too.

But make no mistake-Irene was a firecracker. Sharp-witted, spirited, and full of life, she brought laughter, energy, and a little sass to every room she entered. Her spark was unforgettable. Irene will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her devotion to family, her gentle heart, her vibrant spirit, and the legacy of love she leaves behind.

The family will receive friends from 12pm-12:45pm on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at West Concord Baptist Church followed by a celebration of her life at 1:00 pm.
