Millicent Brawley, 74, passed away surrounded by loved ones at 2:35 am on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord.
She was born May 17, 1941 in Durham County to the late W.B. "Bill" Ward and Ruby Varner Ward. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Sherrill Lee "Peanut" Brawley, Sr.
She attended Concord High School and then went on to receive her B.A. in business from Wingate. She worked for Hallmark Homes Inc. for over 12 years and worked for Cabarrus County Schools for 7 years after she retired.
She is survived by granddaughter, Jennifer Thomas and her dog Spanky of the home; son, Lee Brawley of Rockwell; daughter, Elizabeth Brawley Brown of Waycross, Ga.; sister, Ruby Ward Carter of Concord; 2 nieces;1nephew; 2 great-great nephews; 1 great-great niece; and countless cousins.
The family will receive friends from 10 am to 11am on Tuesday, October 27 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be at 11 am in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel officiated by the Rev. Andy Langford of Central United Methodist Church.
