Michael Thomas Stanley

Michael Thomas Stanley, 65, of Harmony, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at his home.

He was born in Yadkin County to Mattie Merle Wharton Stanley and the late Harold Spencer Stanley; and brother-in-law, Doug Brown.

Mike started early on with his dad and brothers with Stanley & Sons Building Company. They built and remodeled homes and sold building supplies.

The family moved to Harmony in the 90’s to expand the family business. They created H & M Truck Sales, in which they bought and sold new and used cars and truck equipment. His specialty was trucks. He was the best mechanic around and a jack of all trades. There wasn’t much that he couldn’t fix or repair. Mike made some real estate ventures as well until he retired. Once he retired, he maintained and kept up with his own property and way of life.

Mike loved to ride dirt bikes and four wheelers. He was an avid fisherman and loved to go surf fishing.

He enjoyed a lot of his free time with his ride or die four-legged buddy, Leroy. They went anywhere and everywhere. Mike loved his family most of all. His family was the most important thing in his life. He cherished them and every conversation.

Survivors include his mother, Merle Brown of Northport Alabama; daughter, Tracy (Michael) Hartsell of Oakboro; brothers, Tim Stanley and Ronnie Stanley of Harmony, Terry (Wendy) Stanley of Northport; his half-sister, Marilyn Brown of Northport; grandchildren, Jackson Barker, Taylor Barker, Cody Barker, Caleb Barker, Kaylee Hartsell and Rainer Hartsell; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life at his home on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. A private family burial will follow.
