Michael Joan Laney Hammonds

We say goodbye to a beautiful spirit whose courage inspired us all as she journeys into peace. Michael Joan Hammonds, 39, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, September 11, 2026 at her home in Albemarle NC.

Michael was born August 29, 1987, in Fort Mill South Carolina to June Arrington and Hoss Laney.

A Celebration of Michael’s Life will be on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home's Jack Hartsell Memorial Chapel in Midland officiated by Rev. Thomas Andrufski. Dress for the celebration will be causal.

Survivors include husband, Jeffery Nicholas Hammonds and son Brandon Todd Powley of Albemarle NC; father, Hoss Laney; sister Hannah Laney of Fort Mill SC; and mother and bonus father, June and Ray Arrington of Indian Trail, NC.
