Melvin Burris

Melvin Eugene Burris, 65 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Monday, November 24, 2014 at his residence in Oakboro.

Melvin was born March 13, 1949 in Stanly County to the late Jimbo and Emma Burris.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm, Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Wednesday at 3:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle officiated by Rev. Billy Hill . Burial will follow at the Barbee's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Oakboro.

Survivors include wife, Doris Burris of the home, daughter, Christy Burris and fiancé Clint Nichols of Oakboro, three step-daughters Myra Hudler of Candor, Catherine Morgan and husband T.J. of Albemarle, Sharon Harleson and husband Terry of Albemarle. Granddaughter Jackie Lambert of VA and four step grandchildren. One sister Marie Burris of Albemarle.

Melvin was retired from the city of Albemarle and was with the Christian Cooking Convoy.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or to Hospice of Stanly County
