Mary Ann Kegley, 64, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
Mary was born November 30, 1961, in Saint Louis, Missouri, to the late Romuald Antonio Salata and the late Joan Catherine Klich Salata.
Mary was a loving wife, mother, Meema and Mickey, sister, and friend who brought so much joy to the lives of everyone who knew her. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family, creating special memories that will be cherished forever. She also had a passion for crafting and loved showing her creativity in everything she made. If there was one thing everyone knew, it was that no one ever left her house hungry. When she was cooking, she made sure there was plenty of food and was always encouraging everyone to eat just a little more. She was sassy, sweet, funny, and truly one of the most lovable people you could ever meet.
A hardworking woman throughout her life, Mary worked as a sales representative for Larner’s Office Furniture and also spent time working in the school system. However, one of the greatest chapters of her career was spending more than 20 years as a Security Manager at the venue that first began as Blockbuster Pavilion. She was dedicated, hardworking, and took pride in everything she did. Above all else, she loved her family fiercely and wholeheartedly. Her love, laughter, sass, kindness, and unforgettable personality will live on through her children, grandchildren, family, and countless memories. She will be deeply missed but forever loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Survivors include beloved husband of 45 years, Burel "Butch" Kegley, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Amanda Gorrod and husband, John, of Denver, NC; daughter, Erin Kegley-Parris and wife, Sarah, of Concord, NC; brother, Michael Salata of Saint Louis, MO; sister, Irene Madej and husband, Walter, of Swansea, IL; four grandchildren, Mackenzie Clair Gorrod, Emerson Riley Gorrod, Charli Ann Kegley-Parris, and Briggs Cecil Kegley-Parris; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am - 11:45 am, Friday, August 28, 2026, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Deacon Mark Nash.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Forgotten, Now Family Rescue or Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue.
