Mary Ann Black Black

April 6, 1933 — May 30, 2025

Midland

Mary Ann Black, of Flowe Store Road in Midland, passed away early morning on May 30, 2025. She is survived by her beloved son David Charles Black, his wife, Debbie Ledford Black, and her granddaughter Kristen Lorene Black. So much of Mary Ann‘s life was her love and devotion to her family. Her mother was Annie Pope Black Vanderberg and her father was Clinton Black. She was the youngest of eight children and was the only surviving member. Her father was killed when Mary Ann was five years old while the oldest child was driving a car with their father. They were struck by a train at Cabarrus Station close to their home.

Mary Ann had several jobs in her lifetime. She worked for Sears Kerr Bleachery, Cabarrus Alliance, and was a caretaker for her own mother. She was always an advocate for the elderly.

Mary Ann was very involved in her church, which was, Bethel United Methodist Church (now known as Bethel Church). She had many duties through the years including singing in the choir, decorating for special occasions, and overseeing many projects. She simply loved her church and was an example of devotion.

Her passion for genealogy was known far and wide. She had carefully traced her family tree very thoroughly. She loved to talk about her ancestors who came over on the Mayflower or her findings about a member of her family who walked home from the Civil War on a peg leg after losing his leg in the war.

Mary Ann will be loved and remembered for her many talents. Her many nieces and nephews will pass down her very high standards and love for the Lord.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 11:45 am, Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Bethel Church, 12700 Idlebrook Road, Midland. The funeral service will be on Saturday at 12:00 pm at Bethel Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Our family is very appreciative to Hospice of Concord, her caretakers Kortney Kelly Hudson, Stefanie Ridenhour, and Anita Holland. You all are our angels!

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Sheldon’s K9s, 735 Corriher Springs Road, China Grove, NC 28023 or online at www.SheldonsK9s.org
