Marvin McArthur Whitley, 80, of Stanfield, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord. He was happily married for 62 years to Sadie Marie Barbee Whitley.
Marvin was born July 16, 1942 in Midland, North Carolina to the late Harvey James and Annie Pearl Whitley. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Ed Whitley and Frank Whitley, and sister, Betty Morton.
The family will receive friends from 1- 2 pm, Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Kinza Memorial Baptist Church, 4311 Love Mill Rd, Stanfield. The funeral service will follow visitation at 2pm officiated by Rev. Roy Lee Barbee. Pastor Chad Austin will lead the graveside service in the church cemetery.
Marvin was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting, gardening, fishing, and playing golf. Marvin and his wife Sadie spent many years on the open road as truckers, having been to all but four of the continental states where they enjoyed many beautiful sights together. After retirement, Marvin enjoyed traveling to the mountains with Sadie where they would often spend several nights at a time. Marvin was a godly man that served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Kinza Memorial Baptist Church. Most of all, Marvin loved his family and will be missed by all that knew him.
Survivors include wife, Sadie Whitley; children, Holly Bowers & Norman, Bridgette Helms & Barry, Reggie Whitley, and Troy Whitley & Patty; grandchildren, Kari Eudy & Jerry, Stacey Teeter, Lindsey Herring & Josh, Austin Whitley, Kamry Long & Garrett, Kaleb Whitley, Cooper Helms, Kiley Whitley, Koy Whitley, Klay Whitley; great-grandchildren, Audrey Teeter, Zoey Teeter, Willow Eudy, Livia Eudy, and Ella Herring.
