Margie Stanford White, of Harrisburg, passed away at the young age of 64, on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Margie entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior unexpectedly following complications from a procedure.
She was born December 2, 1961, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Margie White was a beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, daughter, and friend. Her life was defined by faith, compassion, generosity, and an unwavering love for those around her.
Margie is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, David White; her son, Spencer (Lisa) White; her granddaughter, Peyton White; her parents, Henry and Sue Stanford; and her siblings, Susan (Marty) Escoe, Kay (Tim) Hiott, and Marty (Marcie) Stanford.
Margie earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Newberry College in South Carolina. Although she valued her education deeply, it was her calling to serve others that truly defined her life's work.
For more than 25 years, Margie dedicated her career to serving adults with intellectual disabilities through Cabarrus County Group Homes. She was far more than an employee. She was an advocate, mentor, protector, and friend to the residents she cared for. Margie was deeply committed to their health and well-being, making certain they received the best possible care from every medical professional involved in their lives. Their happiness and quality of life were always her highest priorities. She was also a source of strength and guidance to her coworkers, consistently stepping in to help anyone in need.
Above all else, Margie's greatest joy was her family.
Margie and David celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary in May. Their love story began when they were just 16 and 17 years old, working together at the Bi-Lo grocery store in South Carolina. In their early years of marriage, they enjoyed life in the Florida Keys. Margie loved taking joy rides with the top down in her convertible, spending long days at the beach, and relaxing on the pontoon boat at the lake.
One of Margie's proudest accomplishments was raising her only son, Spencer. She supported him through every sporting adventure, spending countless weekends at games and tournaments. She was always his biggest fan. When Spencer met Lisa, Margie welcomed her with open arms and often joked that Lisa was "a keeper" because their beloved dog, Scooter, approved.
Over the last five years, her favorite title became Nana. She treasured every moment with her granddaughter, Peyton, planning adventures, baking, making crafts, singing, dancing, and creating precious memories together.
Margie also cherished her relationships with her siblings. She faithfully called to check in, share stories, and celebrate life's blessings. She had a remarkable gift for making each person feel uniquely loved and valued. Her laughter was contagious, and her smile could brighten even the hardest days.
She deeply loved and cared for her parents, appreciating the faith and values they instilled in her from a young age. Through her sincere care and attention, she made everyone feel heard, valued, and deeply loved.
Margie was truly one of the kindest souls anyone could ever meet. She had a gift for turning strangers into friends. Thoughtful and generous, she was always sending sweet messages, handwritten cards, thoughtful gifts, or words of encouragement. A woman of deep faith, she lived out her beliefs through service and generosity.
While our hearts grieve the loss of her physical presence, we find comfort in knowing that Margie is whole again in Heaven. Her legacy lives on in every act of kindness she inspired, every life she touched, and every person fortunate enough to have known her. She was truly a blessing and will be deeply missed until we are reunited again.
