Margie Barbee

Margie Brattain Barbee, 87, of Oakboro, passed away, Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the Lutheran Home in Albemarle. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland on Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be at Bethel Baptist Church, Locust on Friday, October, 5, 2012 at 11:00 am with a 30 minute state. Rev. Charlie Littlejohn and Rev. Chip Alsobrooks will officiate and the burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born, March 3, 1925 in Stanly County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Josie Brattain and was preceded in death by her sister, Daphne Brattain and her brother, Hubert Bratton. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, C J Barbee of the home; son, Gene Barbee and wife Patricia of Duluth, GA.; daughter, Carolyn Faust and husband Rex of New London; sister, Brythe Flake of Stanfield; grandchildren, Shea Morton and wife Ashley of Oakboro; Phillip Morton and wife Tara of Concord; Matthew Barbee of Portland, OR; and Kristin Leonato and husband Leo of Fairfax, VA; great grandchildren, Elijah Morton, Shaphan Morton, Ashton Morton, Alex Leonato and Amy Leonato. She was retired from Stanly Knitting Mills in Oakboro and was a lifetime member of Bethel Baptist Church in Locust where she taught Sunday School for over 60 years.
