- Margaret Hathcock Garmon, 85, of Norwood, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Atrium Health Stanly Hospital in Albemarle.
- Margaret was born January 15, 1939 in North Carolina to the late Garfield Hathcock and the late Sadie Preslar.
- She was also preceded in death by husband, Paul A. Garmon, brothers, Jimmy Hathcock and Doug Hathcock, and sister, Ruby Weathersbee.
- The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle, officiated by Rev. Don Burleyson. Burial will follow at Norview Gardens, 949 Pee Dee Avenue, Norwood, North Carolina.
- Margaret was a wonderful wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed watching sports such as football, basketball, and baseball. Margaret also loved taking care of her cats, especially Tigger. She attended Memorial Baptist Church in Norwood for most of her life. Margaret loved music and would often listen for hours on end to country and gospel. Some of her favorite pastimes included spending time with her family by going out to shop at Belks, going to eat at Parkway House, and hanging out at Blueridge Parkway. Margaret was a great woman, and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
- Survivors include daughter, Lesley Smith, step-daughters, Joey (Mickey) Poplin, Wendy (Alan) Eudy, and Christy (Bubba) NeCaise; grandchildren, Joshua Smith, Meghan Hardy, Michael Bailey.
- Donations may be made to the Veterans Association ( https://www.vetsaa.org/ ), Tillery Compassionate Care (https://tillerycompassionatecare.org/ ), or charity of your choice.
- Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Garmon family.
