Malcolm Monroe Lowder passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026.
Born on August 9, 1932, in Albemarle, North Carolina to W.A. and Rosa Lee Lowder. Malcolm was preceded in death by both parents, his brother and his sister.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Patty Stillwell Lowder and his two sons, Mark (Suzanne) Lowder of Albemarle, North Carolina, and Dean (Sherry) Lowder of Isle of Palms, South Carolina. He also leaves behind three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Central United Methodist Church, 172 N. Second St., Albemarle, NC, officiated by Rev. Dr. David Blankenburg with burial to follow at Fairview Memorial Park, 1425 E. Main Street, Albemarle, NC.
He was a member of Coach Webb’s historic Albemarle High School football teams and then played tailback at N.C. State University in the early 50’s. He was President of All Star Foods, Inc. and General Manager of All Star Hatcheries, Inc. He was also part-owner of All Star Mills, Inc. and Lowder Farms, Inc. In his later years he enjoyed working with his best friend Taft McCoy at McCoy’s Realty.
Malcolm was a devoted follower of Christ and Treasurer of Central United Methodist Church for over a decade and voted Lay Person of the Year in 1996.
Malcolm’s life was marked by hard work, sense of duty, gentle spirit, and generous heart.
