Magdalene Snuggs

Magdalene “Maggie” Cox Snuggs, 94, died Tuesday, January 30 at Trinity Place in Albemarle, N.C.

Maggie was born in Red Springs, N.C., to the late Hattie Della Moose Cox and Harvey Atkinson Cox. She lived in Albemarle for more than 70 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Wilson Snuggs and her brother Harvey Atkinson Cox, Jr.

A private burial will take place at Stanly Gardens of Memory in Albemarle with Father Jim Bernacki officiating.  Maggie was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Albemarle. The family will receive friends at a later date to celebrate Maggie’s life.

Maggie is survived by her daughter Mary Agnes “Aggie” Johanson (Orin) of Park City, Utah, and Albemarle, N.C., with whom she was gleefully reunited late in life; sons John Wilson Snuggs, Jr. of New London, William Henry Snuggs (Lisa) of Albemarle, David Nelson Snuggs (Diane) of Statesville; beloved granddaughters Shannon Snuggs of Albemarle and Amanda Johanson of Christschurch, New Zealand; grandsons Chad Zierenberg (Angela) of Napa, Ca., and Jason Zierenberg of Salt Lake City, Utah; great-grandsons Jacob and Griffin Zierenberg of Napa, Ca., sister Emily DeLapp of Lexington; niece Beth Franklin (John), John DeLapp of Anchorage, Alaska; and great-nephew Alex Franklin. Maggie adored her family and enjoyed spending time with them and her cats. She will be remembered for her strength of character, keen sense of humor, generous spirit and a brilliant mind for memories.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Place, Hospice of Stanly & The Uwharrie, Christ Espicopal Church or a charity of your choice.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Spring Harbor and Trinity Place for the loving care that Maggie received.
