Mack Cox

Mack Brown Cox, 76, of Harrisburg, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at Atrium Health Pineville in Charlotte.

Mack was born December 26, 1949 in North Carolina to the late Archie Brown Cox and Martha Inez Cox.

Mack was a humble man who had big heart. He will be remembered for his caring heart, strong Christian faith, loyal friendships, and his always present quick wit and ability to always make someone laugh. Mack was a storyteller and loved to tell anyone he met a story or two. Mack's lifelong hobby was building model cars and airplanes. It brought him great joy to surprise friends with a model car he had built just for them. Mack found love later in life and started a new journey with his soul mate, Gloria as they embarked on a thirty-four day honeymoon driving up to Canada and then back across the northern states. They saw wonderful places, their favorites included Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Portland, Oregon for the judging of the roses, San Francisco, Sturgis, DeadWood, Columbia River George, Devil's Tower, Mount Sinai although they enjoyed every state they visited. They shared much love and happiness in their short ten-year marriage, and they both had said they wished they had met sooner and had more time.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 12:45 pm, Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Tuesday at 1:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord in Concord. 

Survivors include wife, Gloria Culp Cox; sons Matthew (Grace), Marcus (Emilie), David; Brother, David Archie Cox (Linda); six grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces including his beloved niece, Amy Cox Underwood who he shared a special bond with throughout his life.

Memorials may be made in memory of his two beloved pets, Emma Sue and Sugar, to Cabarrus Humane Society in Concord, NC.
