Hulen, Lynne Marie - Concord, NC
Lynne Marie Hulen, Concord, NC - Lynne Hulen, 83, died peacefully at Hospice House in Kannapolis NC. She was born November 2nd, 1942 in Knoxville Tennessee to Raymond D and Lillian Smelser Hulen. She is preceded in death by her daughter Leeann M Samples, both parents and her sister in-law Linda Hulen. She is survived by her granddaughters Katie and Bella Samples, her brother James R Hulen and his wife Rima and brother Ronald S Hulen; niece Kimberly Al-Zaid, nephew Ronald D. Hulen, nieces Lisa Hulen and Stephanie Wilson and her husband Jeremy; great nieces and nephews Sarah Al-Zaid Lozano, Jacob Al-Zaid, Sean Stanley, Kaylee Wilson and Gabriella Wilson.
After Art School, she married and moved to Hawaii while her husband served in the military. After he was discharged, they settled in Chicago where her daughter Leeann was born. Five years later, she and her family relocated back to Knoxville, Tn. where her husband, working for Ingersoll Rand Corp, was eventually transferred to Charlotte, NC. Lynne was active in the Huntersville Grammar School PTA and the Huntersville Presbyterian Church. She was a charter member of the Huntersville Environmental Standards Board. She was instrumental in establishing the North Mecklenburg Chamber of Commerce where she was the sole employee for the first year of its existence. Afterwards, she became the Office Manager for Ogden Environmental and Energy Services Co. which was acquired by AMEC Foster Wheeler. Lynne served in this capacity while occasionally performing as an Assistant Engineer. Lynne worked for AMEC for approximately 16 years until she took early retirement to care for her aging mother.
From early in Lynne’s childhood, her Christian faith has been a guiding force in her life. Being in possession of a superb memory, she could quote most of the King James version of the bible. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing piano, guitar and hammered dulcimer. Though Lynne enjoyed many hobbies (photography, writing, painting, etc.), she drew particular pleasure in gardening with her late mother. Due to her superb memory and prodigious reading habit, she was self-educated on many, many subjects. She approached life as a student and never ceased to grow intellectually. She loved all and was loved by all who knew her. She and her wise counsel will be greatly missed.
