Lowell Hill

Lowell “Pops” Quincy Hill, age 82 of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2012. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle on Friday, October 19, 2012, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Ervin Houser, will be at Oak Grove United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at 4:00 pm. He will lie in state 30 minutes prior to service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will meet at his home. Mr. Hill was born on September 6, 1930, in Oakboro, to the late Pearl Benjamin Hill and the late Birdie Alice Coble Hill. He is also preceded in death by brothers; Don Hill, John Hill and Doug Hill. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Ruth Almond Hill of the home; his son, Chip Hill of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Evelyn Hill Smith of Oakboro; four brothers, Frank Hill of Midland, Bill Hill of Concord, Larry Hill and Roger Hill of Oakboro. Lowell served his country honorably in the Army. He was a faithful member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. He was a truck driver by profession for Akers Motor Line for 15 years and Terminal Trucking for 20 years, and a farmer at heart.
