Louise Hughes Little

Louise Hughes Little, 91, of Concord, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

Louise was born December 4, 1934 in North Carolina to the late Melbert Arlene Barbee and the late Ella Mae Barbee.

She was also preceded in death by husbands Donald Eugene Hughes and Gary Dan Little, sisters Bessie Tolbert, Frances Almond, and granddaughter Erin McManus.

Louise loved her family deeply and was loved in return. She was a devoted member of New Testament Independent Baptist Church for fifty one years. She worked at Kayser Roth in Concord then at Eckerd's Drug Warehouse in Charlotte until retirement. Louise loved keeping her home clean and shiny, working in her flowers, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. Her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren grow and be happy. One of her best memories was traveling to Wyoming with Gary for more than twenty five years. The ladies would gather rocks and arrow heads while the men hunted deer.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 12:45 pm, Friday, January 23, 2026 at New Testament Independent Baptist Church. The funeral service will be on Friday at 1:00 pm at New Testament Independent Baptist Church in Kannapolis officiated by Pastor Tony Kiker. Burial will follow at the West Concord Cemetery at 331 Union Cemetery Rd SW, Concord.

Survivors include her loving daughters, Donna (Harry) Bryant of New London, NC, and Staretta (Sammy) Mauldin of Kannapolis, NC, step son, Ricky (Heather) Little of Gold Hill, NC. Grandchildren Christina Bryant, Jason (Amy) Bryant of PA, Jatanna Bryant, Chris (Kim) Mauldin, Jonathan Maudlin, Samantha Mauldin, Kory Little, Chase (Crystal) Little Nikki (Boone) Yandle and Connor Jerkins, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
