Louis Leon Morris Jr., 74, of Norwood, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on June 10, 2026.
Born on September 13, 1951, in Page Co, Virginia, Louis was the son of the late Louis Leon Morris Sr. and Nellie M Breeden Morris. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis Morris, and his sister, Carolyn Martin.
Louis proudly served his country in the United States Army and later dedicated many years of service as a Sheriff's Deputy before retiring from Southeastern Trucking Company as a truck driver.
A believer in Jesus Christ, Louis lived a simple and meaningful life centered around faith, family, animals, and the land he loved. He found joy in caring for his farm, spending time outdoors, and appreciating the beauty of God's creation. He especially enjoyed sitting beside a fire, watching nature, and looking across the pond to see the ducks fly in at dusk. An avid observer of wildlife, he often called family members whenever he spotted a bird he couldn't identify, eager to share the moment.
Louis will be remembered as a loving father, proud patriot, devoted animal lover, and a man who believed there was little value in worrying about things beyond one's control. His calm spirit, practical wisdom, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his children, Natalie Morris Smith, Louis Bradley Morris, Elizabeth M. Martinez, and Tracey B. Scott; his grandchildren, Alecxander L. Hough, James M. Smith, Scout M. Smith, Alea M Morris, Hunter Scott, Alex Scott, Destiny A. Burns, and Aubrey Martinez; and his great-grandchildren, Aaron Burns, Madilynn Burns, Sebastian, Atlas, and Maverick.
He is also survived by his siblings, Betty Foster, Gloria Morris, Mary Lou Younts, Joanie Morris, and James D. Morris.
Though his earthly journey has ended, Louis leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, hard work, and appreciation for the simple blessings of life. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends and in every quiet sunset, crackling campfire, and flock of ducks crossing the evening sky.
In accordance with his wishes, Louis will be cremated. The family will announce any memorial arrangements at a later date.
Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Morris family.
