Lois Harrison

July 29, 1937 — June 13, 2026

Concord

Lois Huey Harrison, 88, of Concord, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in Kannapolis, NC.

Lois was born July 29, 1937, in Three Rivers, Michigan, to the late Harvey Wayne Huey and the late Lyda Aurand Huey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Harrison; son, Graham Harrison; her siblings, Violet Jacobs, Lavina Dexter, and Glen Huey.

Lois was a beloved wife, mother, Grammy, sister, daughter, friend, physical therapist, traveler, Sunday School teacher, pianist, and devoted Christian whose faith guided every aspect of her life.

Her favorite Scripture was Psalm 23, which held special significance for her. When Lois was seven years old, her father gave her a lamb. She lovingly raised it, selling its wool and later its offspring to help fund her first year of college. Through that experience, her father taught her about the care of a good shepherd and the love of God, our Good Shepherd—a lesson she treasured throughout her life.

Lois graduated from University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy in 1959. She later earned a Master of Arts in Bible from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 1967.

Lois met the love of her life, John, during a Mediterranean cruise while on an excursion in Amalfi. After a whirlwind 21-day courtship, they were married on June 3, 1970. They enjoyed a memorable six-week honeymoon traveling throughout Europe and were later blessed with a son and a daughter. Lois found great joy in loving, encouraging, and supporting her children throughout their lives.

Nothing brought Lois greater happiness than time spent with her grandchildren. She treasured homeschooling adventures, tea parties, putt-putt outings, reading books together, working puzzles, and creating cherished memories on family vacations.

Lois loved her career in physical therapy and faithfully served others for 53 years before retiring. She served as Director of Physical Therapy and taught at Shands Teaching Hospital through University of Florida. She also taught high school biology at Northside Christian Academy. Later, she returned to physical therapy administration, serving as a clinical administrator for several physical therapy clinics in the Charlotte area.

Survivors include her daughter, Heather Harrison of Concord, NC; her daughter-in-law, Rachel Harrison Barnhouse, and husband, Ed, of Lynchburg, VA; her grandchildren (Graham and Rachel's children), Emma, Abby, and Drew Harrison; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 am - 10:45 am, Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Northside Baptist Church, 333 Jeremiah Blvd, Charlotte. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am in the church auditorium, officiated by Pastor Michael Landrum. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery and Memorial Gardens, 1504 W. Sugar Creek Road, Charlotte.

Memorial donations may be made to Wings of Eagles Ranch or Northside Baptist Church.
