Linda Lucas Pigg

Dec 9, 1948 — Jun 19, 2026

After a courageous and enduring struggle with Parkinson’s Disease, Mrs. Linda Lucas Pigg, 77, of Concord, North Carolina passed away on June 19, 2026, surrounded in her home by family.

Linda was born on September 29, 1948, in Albemarle, NC, to the late John Lentis Lucas and the late Ora Mae Lucas. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Larry Wayne Lucas and Ralph Edward Lucas, and her sister, Hallie Mae Lucas. Linda is survived by her husband of 28 years, Reverand Edward (Buster) Pigg, daughters Joanna Linker (husband, Andrew) and Jessica Smith (husband, Michael) and stepsons Mitch (wife, Lisa) and Randy (wife, Stacy) Pigg. Linda had six grandchildren: Madeline and Mason Linker, Patrick, Heidi, Emily and Bethany Pigg, all who were the light of her world. From the grandchildren grew Linda’s name, Nina, which the whole family adopted.

Easing the suffering of others was a passion on full display during her 40-year career in nursing. Linda began serving as a candy striper at Stanly Hospital in Albemarle. She then attended Presbyterian School of Nursing, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse. She later completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Winston-Salem State University. Her nursing career spanned from the Emergency Department, ICU, the director of First Assembly Adult Day Care Center, Cabarrus County and Bayada Home Health, and, lastly, her most loved position, as a Parish Nurse for Atrium Health Cabarrus. Her calling allowed her to love others and care for them with grace and compassion.

Linda was a faithful member of Howell’s Missionary Baptist Church. The Lord and her salvation were never in doubt, and her family is forever grateful for the Christian example that she bestowed in them. She loved God and loved her family. This good and faithful servant of God was a prayer warrior. She rallied prayers for family as well as many of you reading this today. To the very end of her life she would light up when one of her daughters or grandchildren walked into the room. Her devoted and steadfast husband, Buster, was loving and faithfully by her side, not just in the sweet moments, but in the harder ones as well. Always supporting her and protecting her. For that we are most grateful.

Linda was a Master Gardner, and it showed in colorful varieties of roses surrounding her home. She could find beauty in the small and seemingly insignificant things. Linda was known to turn a small leaf into a thriving plant. Her nurturing and loving nature was demonstrated through the care she gave to even the simplest creation.

In addition to gardening, Linda enjoyed traveling with her husband and family. The destination never concerned her; she simply wanted time with her family. Buster and Linda appreciated being close to nature, and camping allowed them to share many adventures together. Linda also had a passion for reading and for gospel music. The family cherishes

her Bible with all her annotations and underlined passages. In her Bible was her life lesson: Keep faith in God, love Him and love people.

Linda’s life exemplified unwavering selfless love for others. She will truly be missed. Her life verse is a comfort: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose”. (Romans 8:28). We rest in the peace knowing that Linda heard, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” as she was welcomed into heaven where she is free from pain and every heartache of this world. She is made new, she is at peace, she is home.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 27 from 1:00 - 2:45 PM at Howell’s Missionary Baptist Church at 3800 Baptist Lane, Concord, NC 28025. Linda’s Celebration of Life service will begin at 3:00 PM. A graveside service will follow in the church cemetery.

Linda was our biggest cheerleader. Her support and guidance will be missed greatly. We pray we can carry on her legacy of loving God, loving family and finding joy in the small things of this world. Until we see you again in heaven, we love you, Nina!

The family expresses a very special thank you to the caregivers who cared for Linda this past year. The love and tenderness you showed her, as if she were your own mother, touched our hearts deeply. You not only cared for her but also supported our family during this time. We are truly grateful and could not have done it without each of you.

Memorial can be made to Howell’s Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3800 Baptist Lane, Concord, NC 28025 or Tillery Compassionate Care, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, 960 North First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
