Lenwood Vinson

Lenwood Lamar Vinson, 82 years of age, of Stanfield, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord.

Lenwood was born December 25, 1932 in Cumberland County to the late Roy Filmore Vinson and the late Gladys Elizabeth Leggett Vinson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles Vinson; and sisters, Lois Ortiz and Rebecca Vinson.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 am, Saturday, June 13, 2015 at St. Stephens Wesleyan Church, Concord. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Gary Morris, will follow at 11am in the church sanctuary. The burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Rd. in Charlotte, with military honors conducted by the North Carolina National Guard Honor Guard. At other times the family will be receiving friends at the home.

He is survived by his wife, Lynda Jean McCoy Love Vinson of Stanfield; daughter, Shirley Yountz and husband Don of Clemmens; brother, Eddie Vinson and wife Sharon of Charlotte; sister, Bertha Horne of Fayetteville; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Lenwood served his country honorably in the United States Army. He retired as a truck driver after many years of dedicated service. He was also an auto business owner. Lenwood loved dogs, especially rottweilers.
