Larry Charles LeClear, 76, of Mount Gilead, passed away Friday, September 9, 2022 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.
Larry was born October 10, 1945 in Pontiac, Michigan to the late Kenneth Leroy LeClear and the late Marjorie Elaine Dickman LeClear. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Mark Erwin, Donald Rose; and sister, Diane Sue Erwin.
The family will receive friends from 2:15 pm - 3:00 pm, Friday, September 16, 2022 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service to celebrate his life will follow at 3:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by Rev. Josh Phillips.
He is survived by his son, Ryan (April) LeClear of Harrisburg; daughters, Lauren (Charlie) LeClear Mackie of McLeansville, Katrina (Bryon) Hartzog of Maryland; four grandchildren, Charlie "CJ" Mackie, Laura "Lexi" Nelson, MaryGrace, and Emma.
Larry honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. In 1968, Larry joined the Greensboro Police Department, and worked until retiring in January of 1995. Larry enjoyed outdoor activities, drag racing, lake life, and boating. He loved his community and served as the head of security for Carolina Forest Association. Larry was a dedicated and loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.
