Larry Barnette

Mr. Larry Eugene Barnette, born Sept 9, 1951, passed away peacefully to the arms on Jesus and was greeted at heaven's gate by his parents and his niece Kristy Price Trull on Friday, April 22, 2022. He was the son of Mary Frances and William "Bill" Barnette. He was blessed with two sisters, Elaine Barnette and Robie Price (Keith) of Monroe, who cherished and looked out for him.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Locust. The service will immediately follow on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 3:00pm at First Baptist Church of Locust officiated by Rev. Don Thompson. Burial will follow at First Baptist Cemetery, 320 South Central Ave., Locust.

Larry was happily married to Dianne Barnette of Stanfield for 33 years. His children are Stephen Barnette (Kim) of Monroe, Brandi Queen (Neal) of Marshville, Shelly Hall (Jason) of Locust and Jeff Little (Janette) of Locust. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye and he loved to brag on their accomplishments. Colby Barnette (Elizabeth), Trevor Barnette (Betsy), Grayson Thomas, Alexis Thomas, Carson Queen, Steven Little, Jada Hall, Jax Hall, Jordan Mosley and "Baby Barnette" - Pawpaw Larry loved you more than you will ever know! To his nephews and niece Billy, Tracey, Ritchie and Brian - he loved you all as if you were his own children.

Many people up and down the east coast knew his as "Trucker" or "Big Mack Daddy". From his racing days at Starlite and Concord Speedway to driving big rigs, he could master anything with a steering wheel. He never met a stranger and would give to anyone in need, even if it was his last dime. His big stature, personality and giving heart defined him. He had a heart for his children, and many babies took precious naps atop his "big belly". Daddy, you will be missed dearly, but we know you are without pain and at peace. We love you!
