Kerin Weston, 65, of Mt Gilead, passed away suddenly, July 22, 2026, at her home.
Kerin was born July 26, 1960, in Huntsville, Alabama. Kerin lived much of her life in upstate New York where she married her husband, Gary, and had her two daughters, Rachel and Rebecca. In 1999 they made the move to Concord, NC, where they lived until four years ago when Gary and Kerin moved to Mt. Gilead in the Uwharrie National Forest.
Kerins passion for gardening knew no bounds. When she moved to Mt Gilead, she expanded her passion from flowers to fruits and vegetables. To say she had a green thumb was an understatement.
After retiring from the UNC school system, she spent her days in the yard or on the porch watching the hummingbirds fight over her many hummingbird feeders. Kerin was an absolute animal lover as well. She currently has three dogs Yogi, Bell, and Stormy and just lost her two cats, itty bitty and kit kat.
Kerin was always up for a good travel. She wanted to see the country and the world. Nothing made her prouder, however, than just being a Gramma to her four grandkids.
Kerin was a strong woman who had a very warm heart. She had an infectious laugh and a very straight forward and honest attitude. She will be greatly missed by all of those who were privileged to know her.
Kerin was preceded in death by her parents Harvey and Judy Kidder.
Her survivors include Husband; Gary Weston, two daughters Rachel (David) Baucom and Rebecca (Justin) Gucciardo, four grandchildren Raegan, Kennedy, Lincoln Baucom, and Zoey Gucciardo, her five siblings Kevin (Chris) Kidder, Kraig (Kathy) Kidder, Kirsten (Rolla) Huff, Kristopher (Kim) Kidder, and Kelli (Bob) Collins as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends for final respects from 1:00- 3:00pm, Friday, July 31, 2026, at Hartsell Funeral Home 12115 University City Blvd Harrisburg, NC 28075. The funeral service will follow at 3:00pm and will be officiated by Pastor Scott.
