Kay Ruth Measmer

Feb 9, 1955 — Aug 17, 2026

Kay Rimer Measmer, born February 9, 1955, entered her eternal home on Monday, August 17, 2026, while at home with her devoted husband Ronnie, fur baby "Onyx" and loving friends by her side.

Kay was the daughter of the late, Bobby "Bob" and Doris Rimer and granddaughter of the late, Andy and Ruth Drye of Concord.

Kay graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and studied cosmetology. She furthered her education at Biscayne Southern where she received a BS degree in business. Following her education, she was employed with Cannon Mills' main office where she was a secretary in the Engineering Department for 15 years. She was then employed with the Department of Social Services for 30 years and worked in numerous capacities aiding families with dependent children and the Work First Program. Kay shared many years as a volunteer with the Cabarrus County Community Free Clinic. She and her husband Ronnie delivered monthly commodity distributions for the indigent and elderly through Cooperative Christian Ministries. Kay and Ronnie have been lifelong active members and loving servants at Cold Water Lutheran Church, Gold Hill Road in Concord. She taught children in Sunday school and accompanied their singing with her piano talents. She also served in their after-church lunch program.

Kay and Ronnie were avid shag dancers for 30 faithful years in the Boppers Shag Club, where they were the founding members in 2012. Kay served the club on numerous committees. The band, "Too Much Sylvia" is Kays' favorite band. She and Ronnie recently danced in their video for their latest single, A Jukebox Playin' 45's. For many years prior and after retirement, Kay worked with her close friend Melanie Keziah, and her sister-in-law, Rebecca Measmer at Virginias dress shop in Kannapolis.

Kay was faithful to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to her church, her loving husband, her family, her friends, and to all whom she met along the way. Weeks before Christmas, she and Ronnie cookie pressed, baked, and hand decorated Christmas cookies. Kay lovingly delivered them to former coworkers and shared with those whom she loved. Kay was an Elvis Pressley fan. She was a collector of all kinds of music boxes, but especially juke boxes. Her collection was featured in the Tribune. She collected and helped make beautiful quilts, handmade ornaments, old world Santas, and butterflies. She was creative and had the knack for taking the old and making it new and lovely again.

Kay is survived by her husband Ronnie of 49 years, whom she met and fell in love, at Frye's Skating Rink. Her Aunt Hazel and Uncle Don Wright and their daughters Crystal and Donna. She is also survived by numerous god children, Mary Lynn Stanton, Robert, Daniel, and Russell Measmer, Deana Kay Petty, Davis and Clara Jane Petty, Christopher Keziah, Courtney, Wyatt, Camden and Jordan Sneed, Zachary and Zoe Castor and Corrine.
