Katie Penninger

Katie "Louise" Deese Penninger, 81, of Concord, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 16, 2009. She was born October 11, 1927 in Cabarrus County to the late Henry Jackson Deese and Ollie Elizabeth.

Louise was a devoted homemaker and a loving mother, sister, and grandmother. She was a member of Roberta United Methodist Church.

Louise will be reunited in heaven with her husband, John Clifford "J.C." Penninger, and her daughter, Judy P. Anthony. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sister.

Survivors include her son, Clifford L. Penninger, and wife, Shirley, of Concord; three daughters, Linda P. Morrison and husband, Jimmy, of Concord, Vicky Penninger and partner, Cramer C. Lambert, Jr., of Harrisburg, and Anita P. Hinson of Concord; sister, Viola Collins of Indian Trail; two brothers, John Henry Smith of Harrisburg, and Billy Ray Smith of Charlotte; eight grandchildren, Tammy Weddington, Angie Fleming, Johnny Lambert, Nic' Hinson, Jay Morrison, Michael Morrison, Lindsay Hartman, and Brittany Furr; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, July 19, 2009. Funeral service will be at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, Concord at 2:00 PM, Monday, July 20, 2009, Rev. David Cox officiating. Interment will be at Roberta UMC Church Cemetery in Concord. The family will be meeting at the home of her daughter, Linda Morrison, at 1195 Old Charlotte Rd., Concord.

Memorials may be made to Roberta United Methodist Church, 3925 Cochran Road, Concord, NC 28027, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
