Kathy Lynn Griffin, 66, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on January 9, 2026.
Kathy was born on November 23, 1959, in Burlington, Vermont, to Helen Marie Deavitt and the late Carlton Robert Deavitt. She was the oldest of four children, including her twin and other half, Karen, and two cherished brothers, Karl and Keith. Kathy held many fond memories of growing up with her siblings on Barrett Street, recalling the many adventures they shared with their neighborhood friends. She graduated from South Burlington High School in 1977.
Kathy married William “Bill” Griffin in 1981 and relocated to Maine, where they welcomed their daughter, Katie. After the move, Kathy began a long and dedicated career in banking. Her intelligence, reliability, and people-first approach contributed to a highly successful tenure.
During her time in Maine, on any given weekend, Kathy could be found at the racetrack with her husband, where they made countless memories and lifelong friends. Racing continued for a short while after their move to North Carolina, but before long, race cars were traded for hot rods. Always ready for a good time, Kathy truly enjoyed traveling to the hot rod shows and cherished the friendships made along the way.
Kathy was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, proudly waving her Terrible Towel and sporting her game-day get-up. When she wasn’t cheering (and yelling) at the TV on game days, she enjoyed cruising around with her husband and spending time with friends at their shop. In her later years, Kathy found joy in crafting—a hobby she shared with her granddaughter, Lily. Her grandbabies were truly her pride and joy, and she was always ready to trade her spot in front of the TV for a seat in the stands, passionately cheering them on at their various athletic events.
Kathy will be remembered for her infectious energy, her generous heart, and her fierce love for friends and family. She leaves behind a legacy of joy, connection, and embracing life.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 44 years, William “Bill” Griffin; her daughter, Katie Robinson (Michael); her adored grandchildren, Colby, Lily, and Conner Robinson; her mother, Helen Deavitt; her twin sister, Karen Moore; brothers Karl Deavitt (Lisa) and Keith Deavitt (Amy); nieces and nephews, Julie Walker, Jamie Harrison, Amber Katon, Nick Deavitt, Brenna Deavitt, Dustin Deavitt, Tia Deavitt, Scott MacMaster, and Shawn MacMaster; and many beloved friends.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Kathy's neighbors for their friendship and support through the years, her many cherished friends for always being there for her, the "card ladies" for all of their support and being such a bright spot in a dark time, and her sister Karen who took such incredible care of Kathy during her illness.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 31st, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at 3704 Baptist Lane in Concord. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather, share stories, and honor Kathy in the way she would have wanted—surrounded by love, laughter, and community.
