Katherine Carpenter

Katherine Verinna Carpenter, 67 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle.

Katherine was born August 13, 1947 in Stanly County to the late Ralph Lane Carpenter, Sr. and the late Pauline Morgan Carpenter.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Katherine's home, 1005 Avondale Avenue, Albemarle, NC on Sunday, January 25, 2015, from 2:00 until 4:00 PM to share memories.

Survivors include brother, Ralph Lane Carpenter, II of Albemarle; sister, Myra Carpenter Slate of Raleigh; nieces, Courtney Leonard of Raleigh and Lisa Mercer of Albemarle; special cousin and caregiver, Sheila Stoker of Albemarle; and numerous other relatives.

A graduate of Albemarle High School, she attended East Carolina University. She was a member of Silver Springs Baptist Church and was manager of Edgewood Place Apartments. During her youth, she was a lover of horses and won many blue ribbons, silver bowls, and trophies. She was the owner of Hillside Kennels where she was known for raising Yorkshire Terriers and Maltese dogs.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
