Karen Ann Jones Haar, 67, of Concord, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

Karen was born May 3, 1956, in West Jefferson, NC, to the late Harold and Joan Jones.

Karen attended Appalachian State University, Central Piedmont Community College and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she majored in communications. Karen enjoyed a long career at UNCC and worked in the College of Education, Registrar's Office and Educational Leadership. She retired as an office manager in 2019 after 20 years of service. She very much enjoyed traveling. Visiting and hiking the national parks in Utah and stopping in Las Vegas were among her favorite trips to take. She also enjoyed reading scripture and worked supporting her church. Karen was a kind, caring person with a great smile and a wonderful personality. She will be forever loved and greatly missed.

Those left to cherish Karen's memory include her beloved husband of 45 years, John Haar of Concord; three brothers, Jeff (Bobbie) Jones of Hickory, Terry (Kelly) Jones of Hickory, and Steve (Debbie) Jones of Ashe County; two sisters, Lorraine Pressnell of Valdese, and Donna Harris of Creston; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

The memorial service in celebration of Karen's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 21, 2023 in the chapel at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg, officiated by Dr. Tracy Winborne. A reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Cabarrus County and Levine Cancer Institute.
