Judy Coble Tucker, 80, of Oakboro went to be with her Savior Tuesday, February 10, 2026 surrounded by her family at her home in Oakboro. After struggling with Alzheimer’s Disease for over 10 years, she is finally free of confusion and pain and rejoicing in heaven. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her sister Phyllis Coble Barbee and brother-in-law Jerry Barbee of Oakboro.
Judy was born May 21, 1945 in Stanly County to the late Titus Wesley Coble and the late Margie Turner Coble of Oakboro. She was among the first graduating class of West Stanly High in 1963 where she was the captain of the cheerleading team and starred in the first spring production on the West Stanly stage as Jane Eyre.
In school she met the love of her life, Larry Tucker. They were married on March 13, 1965 and shared over 60 wonderful years together. Larry was by her side from their wedding day until the day he held her hand as she left her earthly body and went to be with Jesus. She was a loving wife, an incredible mother, a wonderful grandmother and a remarkable woman who loved everyone and never met a stranger.
Judy believed that it was important to give back to her community. She volunteered with local politics, the Oakboro Museum, Oakboro Fourth of July Celebration and the West Stanly Players.
In 1997 Judy was an integral part of reviving the Miss Stanly County Pageant. As longtime executive director through her work with the Miss North Carolina organization she impacted the lives of countless young women and was recognized across the state for her contributions leaving a legacy that lives on today.
Above all, she was a christian who loved her church and the Lord. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist of Oakboro and combined her love of service with her love of God as a Sunday School teacher, WMU director and choir member.
