Joyce Wentworth

Joyce Ann (Bullington) Wentworth, 74, of Concord, NC passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023 with her spouse Ken Sidak by her side.

Joyce, known as “Joy” to her family, was born March 11, 1948 in Jacksonville, FL to the late John Bullington and the late Eula Mae (Hancock) Bullington.  She was also preceded in death by her brother, Pete Bullington; and her sister, Minnie Lou Bullington.

A Concord resident since 1976, Joyce graduated from the Cabarrus Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1980.  As a full-time working mother,  she later earned her bachelor’s degree from Wingate University and a master’s degree from UNC-Charlotte.  Joyce began her 35-year health care career at Cabarrus Memorial as an emergency room nurse, later advancing on to the radiology department, and retiring as the Diabetes Program Coordinator at NorthEast Diabetes and Nutrition Center in Concord.  She was attentive, selfless, and caring.  She displayed compassion for her patients and truly enjoyed helping others.

Among her many interests, her love for the arts inspired her to volunteer her time at Spirit Square and Ovens Auditorium so that she could attend numerous symphonies, musicals and ballets.  She had a quick wit, an excellent sense-of-humor and loved a good joke. She enjoyed visiting her family in Jacksonville and she made her son the luckiest kid in the world with their frequent side trips to Disney World.

Joyce met her soulmate in Ken and they were inseparable.  Joyce and Ken would spend hours talking , laughing and enjoying every minute together.  They enjoyed reading, traveling, sailing, and gardening together at their home in Concord.  She had a life-long love of learning and Ken was always there to answer the questions.

Survivors include her spouse Kemal "Ken" Sidak of Concord, NC; her son, Evan Wentworth and his wife Corinne Hart of Silver Spring, MD; Ken's son, Omar Sidak and his son Hayden; her sister, Mary Sattler of Jacksonville, FL and her two granddaughters, Everette and Edie Joy Wentworth.

Her family, and everyone that knew Joyce, will miss her dearly.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 12 between 1:00 and 3:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord.

A private graveside funeral service will be held at West Concord Cemetery in Concord, NC.
